PURPOSE: To produce an isocyanate group-containing ester widely useful as an industrial resin including a coating resin at a low reactional temperature by using a reactional material with hardly any adverse effects on humans or the environment.
CONSTITUTION: A carbamate group-containing ester expressed by formula I or II (R1 is H, aliphatic, alicyclic or arylaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group having 10C at the maximum; R2 is bivalent aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 6C at the maximum; R3 is bivalent aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, arylaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group having 10C at the maximum; R4 is aliphatic, cycloaliphatic, arylaliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbon group having 15C at the maximum) is thermally decomposed in the presence of an organotin catalyst expressed by formulas III and/or TV [R5 is aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 8C at the maximum; R6 is aliphatic hydrocarbon group having 20C at the maximum; (m) is 0-3] (e.g. tin dioctanoate or dibutyltin dilaurate) at a temperature within the range of 100-160°C especially 120-140°C to afford the objective isocyanate group-containing ester expressed by formula V or VI.
