Abstract:
PURPOSE: To simply and efficiently obtain L-β-hydroxyamino acid from racemic-β-hydroxyamino acid.
CONSTITUTION: Racemic-β-hydroxyamino acid is treated with an enzyme capable of specifically decomposing D-β-hydroxyamino acid into glycine and a corresponding aldehyde, a cell of a microorganism to produce the enzyme or a treated material of the cell to produce L-β-hydroxyamino acid from racemic-β- hydroxyamino acid. The objective substance is more inexpensively and more efficiently obtained than a method of using an optically resolving agent and the decomposed substance is economically reusable.
