Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for safely and easily produce an L-valinebenzyl ester p-toluenesulfonic acid salt on an industrial scale at a low cost.
SOLUTION: L-valinebenzyl ester p-toluenesulfonic acid salt is produced by reacting L-valine with benzyl alcohol in an aromatic solvent (excluding benzene) in the presence of p-toluenesulfonic acid under azeotropic dehydration condition and crystallizing the L-valinebenzyl ester p-toluenesulfonic acid salt from the obtained reaction solution. The amount of the aromatic solvent is preferably 250-3,000 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of L-valine.
