PURPOSE: To obtain a molded laminate, such as a copper-clad laminate hardly generating a poor appearance, such as impression and pit, by a method wherein prior to a hot pressure molding process, a top surface and/or an end face of a prepreg is treated with an organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: In a method for producing a laminate from a prepreg made of a glass fiber cloth as a substrate impregrated with a thermosetting resin, prior to a hot pressure molding process, a top surface and/or an end face of the prepreg is treated with an organic solvent. As a method for treating a top surface or an end face of the prepreg, an atomized solvent is sprayed, the prepreg is passed through a moistened solvent vapor, or the prepreg is passed through between sponge rollers or other rollers with a surface layer impregnated with a solvent. As the organic solvent used in this invention, a solvent which dissolve a resin can be used without particular limitation, but a solvent having a low boiling point is preferable when succeeding processes are taken into consideration.
