PURPOSE: To perform joining readily and improve the mechanical and electrical properties of the joined conductors by superposedly inserting conductive members between parallel electrodes, heating the members through energizing of both electrodes while moving both electrodes and pressing the conductive members then quenching the members in water thereby joining the members.
CONSTITUTION: Flat plate form conductive members 3 are laminated in required number and are inserted between the mutually opposing parallel faces of electrodes 1, 2 made of carbon. Next, while the electrode 2 is being moved in the arrow direction by a cylinder 4 to press the conductive members 3 to 0.02 to 1 kg/cm2, current of about 15000 A is supplied between both electrodes to heat the members up to 270 to 810°C in about 15 seconds. Next, the current is turned ON and OFF, e.g., it is maintained for 1 to 3 minues in a range of ±50°C, after which the laminated conductive members 3 are quenched in water and this completes the joining.
