Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a polymer material such as PET having a color lightened to an extent to enable the reuse from a polymer material colored with an organic pigment, etc., in high efficiency at a low cost by dissolving the colorant with a solvent and separating from the polymer material.
CONSTITUTION: A test piece of waste polyethylene terephthalate(PET) colored to green color and used as a bottle for refreshing drink is charged into a Soxhlet extractor and refluxed (at 180°C) in an organic chlorine compound solvent (e.g. o-dichlorobenzene) under normal pressure for 3hr to extract the green pigment from the PET. The obtained PET exhibits pale yellow color and the test piece (0.3mm thick) produced therefrom has an extinction coefficient of 0.7 (420nm wavelength) and 0.1 (670nm wavelength). A polymer material having a color lightened to an extent to enable the practical use can be regenerated from a colored polymer material in high efficiency at a low cost.
