Title:
PRODUCTION OF LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5635120
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a display device in which liquid crystal molecules are arranged uniformly horizontally and there are no traces of flaws by polishing, by polishing the surfaces of substrates which a liquid crystal contacts by using the superfine metal powder obtainable through evaporation in gas.

CONSTITUTION: The surfaces of the thin insulation films (vapor deposition layers of SiO2 etc.) 6, 7 formed by covering the electrodes 1, 2 and electrode 3 respectively of the substrates 4, 5 of a liquid crystal device are polished by using, as a polishing agent, the superfine metal powder of ≤500nm obtained by evaporating metals of Ag, Al, Fe, Ni, Cu, Fe-Ni, Co-Fe in an atmosphere of He etc. of several mm W several hundreds mmHg. The operation of attaching the superfine powder to a gauze and moving the same in one direction is repeated about 10 times to form liquid crystal arrangement layers 8, 9. Next, the substrates 4, 5 are cleaned by ultrasonic waves, after which the spacing between them is determined by a spacer 10 and these are sealed by bonding, thence a liquid crystal 11 is injected therein, whereby the display element is perfected.
