Title:
PRODUCTION OF LOW-SI, LOW-P, HIGH-MN MOLTEN IRON ACCOMPANYING SMELTING REDUCTION OF MN ORE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3393668
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the low-Si, low-P, high-Mn molten iron by increasing the Mn concn. in the molten iron by smelting reduction of Mn ore and subjecting the molten iron to desiliconization and clephosphorization.
CONSTITUTION: A mixture composed of quicklime and the powdery Mn ore is added to the molten iron tapped from a blast furnace in such a manner that the basicity attains 1.5 to 4.0 to desiliconize the molten iron. In succession, a carbonaceous material and a flux compounded with one or ≥2 kinds of CaF2, Al2O3, and CaCl2 are added together with the mixture composed of the quicklime and the powdery Mn ore to the molten iron after the desiliconization, by which the dephosphorization and the reduction of the Mn ore are simultaneously progressed. As a result, the Mn concn. of the molten iron is increased by using the Si in the molten iron for reduction of the Mn ore without using costly ferromanganese.
