PURPOSE: To produce a magnetic paint having excellent dispersibility, and excellent squareness ratio, coating film properties, etc., and suitable for magnetic recording tape, etc., by dispersing ultrafine powder of ferromagnetic metal obtained by the gas evaporation process in a state of fine particles, adding a solvent and a polymer binder to the particles, and mixing at a specific rate of revolution.

CONSTITUTION: The objective paint is obtained e.g. by (1) suspending (A) 100pts. wt. of ferromagnetic ultrafine powder in (B) ≥200pts.wt. of a mixture obtained by adding (i) 0.1W20wt% dispersant (e.g. sodium oleate) to (ii) water, or a mixture of water and alcohol, (2) dispersing the suspension at a rate of revolution of ≥10,000rpm, (3) washing and drying the treated magnetic fine powder, (4) adding (C) a solvent and a polymeric binder to the powder, and (5) mixing the composition at a rate of revolution of ≥2,000rpm.
