PURPOSE: To make it possible to use a single roll in noncrystallizing the powder by the glass crystallization method and obtain the magnetic powder, by bringing a specific melt containing a ferrite constituent element of ferrite into contact with the rotational surface of the single roll, and quenching the melt to noncrystallize the melt.
CONSTITUTION: A raw material containing glass-forming material and a constituent element of magnetoplumbite type ferrite in a given amount is put into a platinum container, and the whole is then melted under heating with a high frequency. The resultant melt is then dripped from a nozzle provided at the bottom of the container onto the rotational surface of a single roll rotating at a high speed and quenched. Thus, a flaky oxide amorphous material is obtained. The resultant amorphous material is then heat-treated in air to deposit a magnetoplumbite type ferrite, which is then washed with a dilute acid solution, e.g. acetic acid, to afford the aimed magnetic powder.
