Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain high durability even in the case where a plasma polymerized protective film formed with phenyl hydrocarbon as a monomer so as to coat and protect the magnetic recording film of a magnetic recording medium is made as thin as about 10nm when the magnetic recording medium used in a magnetic disc device, etc., is produced.
CONSTITUTION: When a plasma polymerized protective film 22 is formed on the surface of a magnetic recording film 13 by plasma CVD with phenyl hydrocarbon as a monomer to produce a magnetic recording medium, the pressure of reactive gas at the time of forming the protective film 22 is regulated to 10-16 Pa.
