Abstract:

To obtain the subject fluorescent substance with long service life.

This fluophor is obtained by heating treatment of a magnagese- activated zinc silicate fluorescent substance of the general formula (Zn, Mn)2SiO4 in an oxygen atmosphere; wherein the heating treatment is carried out as follows: the original fluorescent substance 2 is placed inside a tubular oven 1, and, as shown by an arrow, an oxygen gas is introduced via one end 3 of the oven 1 into the oven 1 which is heated to a specified temperature while exhausting the resultant gas via the other end 4.
