Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve a feeling of transparency and molding properties in obtaining molded articles of marbled resin by molding a radically polymerizable monomer, thermoplastic resin, etc., and curing, by adding specific components such as polyfunctional carboxylic acid and radical polymerization initiator in specific ratios. CONSTITUTION:A resin composition consisting of a radically polymerizable monomer, a thermoplastic resin and an inorganic filler is blended with (a) an epoxy resin (preferably 70-250 epoxy equivalent and 140-1,000 average molecular weight), (B) a polyfunctional carboxylic acid (preferably maleic anhydride) and (C) a radical polymerization initiator (preferably methyl ethyl ketone peroxide) in the ratio of 10-100 pts.wt. component A based on 100 pts.wt. radically polymerizable monomer, 0.5-4.0 equivalent component B based on 1 equivalent of the component A and 0.1-10 pts.wt. component C based on 100 pts.wt. total amounts of the radically polymerizable monomer and the thermoplastic resin, cast into a mold, semicured, demolded and completely cured to give marbled molded article of resin suitable for washbowl, etc.
