PURPOSE: To obtain a compost having quick acting property and slow acting property and free from smell of poultry manure by alternately laminating a layer obtained by blending fermenting agent containing bacteria such as facultative aerobic bacteria with powder of mineral containing rare earth element and layer of poultry manure and fermenting the laminate.

CONSTITUTION: A fermenting agent containing facultative aerobic bacteria belonging to Bacillus subtilis or facultative anaerobic bacteria is prepared. A blend obtained by blending the fermenting agent with fine powder of mineral containing rare earth element is prepared. A layer of the blend is alternately laminated with a layer of poultry manure controlled in water content and the laminate is fermented.
