To provide a process for producing metal ceramic composite material moldings which are resistant to wear and/or stable at a high temp., are usable in a machine production field, device production field, motor production field and turbine production field and are further usable as functional materials and more particularly as high-efficiency brake members as well as electrical or magnetical functional elements.
This process for producing the metal ceramic composite material moldings which are penetrated with a metallic phase mainly consisting of aluminide and have a phase of a high Al2O3 concn. comprises bringing preforms which consist of at least one kind of the compds. of oxides reducible by aluminum and in some cases, the compds. of non-oxides or elements and are sintered in some cases into reaction with liquid aluminum or aluminum alloy until the formation of the aluminide and Al2O3 is executed in at least the upper layer.
