PURPOSE: To produce the metal matrix composite in which molten metal is impregnated as even as possible from the periphery of formed body and in part of which the homogeneous composite part generated to intermetallic compound as even as possible exists in the formed body.
CONSTITUTION: The formed body 1 consisting of metal powder and reinforcing material is placed in a die main body 3, a formed body 2 as an impregnation accelerating member, to which molten metal is impregnated easier than the formed body 1, is placed to at least part of a bottom plate die 4 near the formed body 1 and apart/facing each other, pressure casting is executed. Among the molten metal in periphery of the formed body 1, the molten metal at the bottom plate die 4 side near the formed body 1 and apart/facing is turned to lower temp. than other places due to being in contact with a die surface, this cooled molten metal is preferentially impregnated into the formed body 2 as an impregnation accelerating agent, high temp. Molten metal is supplied from other part, a temp. difference of molten metal in the periphery of formed body 1 is reduced, as a result, the molten metal is impregnated as even as possible from the periphery of formed body 1.
