PURPOSE: To enhance durability of a metallic carrier by joining the outermost circumference of a honeycomb part to the layer of the vicinity thereof and brazing the contact parts of both plates of several layers and a corrugated board and diffusively joining the contact parts of both residual layer of the honeycomb part and the corrugated board.
CONSTITUTION: A honeycomb part 1 is formed by superposing a corrugated board 3 made of stainless steel contg. 5wt.% Al on a planer plate 2 made of the same material having 0.05mm thickness and winding them. This honey comb part 1 is inserted into an outer cylinder 4 made of stainless steel and thereafter heated and held at 1200°C for 60 minutes in a vacuum furnace and these are diffusively joined. Then nickel-based brazing material (20Cr-10 Si-Ba- Ni) is applied to both contact part 5 of the honeycomb part 1 and the outer cylinder 4 and the contact parts 6, 7, 8 of the plates 2 of a first - third layers and the corrugated board 3. A metallic carrier is molded by heating it at 1150-1200°C for 5 minutes in a vacuum furnace and performing brazing thereof.
