Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the yield in the forging and rolling stages and enable the continuous melting of a metal without causing bridges, at the time of producing a metallic ingot by an induction-slag melting method by drawing it out while the molten metal is rotated.

CONSTITUTION: In the method for continuously producing an ingot of a high m.p. metal or the like by utilizing an induction-slag melting method in an argon or vacuum atmosphere, the metal is drawn while it is rotated in the drawing stage. By this method, the metal having a uniform structure can be obtd., the occurrence of bridges easily formable on the surface of the molten metal can be prevented, the movement of heat to a melting crucible is suppressed to reduce the consumption unit of a power source, and the intrusion of impurities from slag or the like can be suppressed. Furthermore, the yield in the forging and rolling stages can be improved.
