To produce a quenched and solidified powder having uniform quality by blowing gas jet against the molten metal stream flowed down from a raw material vessel, dividing the molten metal into molten drips and pouring the divided molten drips without spattering into cooling liquid layer flowed down while circulating along the inner peripheral surface of a cylindrical body for cooling.
The gas jet j1 for division directed to the cooling liquid layer 7 from a gas jet nozzle 4 and auxiliary gas jet j2 having small flowing speed from the reverse side to the gas jet j1, are jetted, and the molten metal stream 5a is flowed down against the intersection part of both jets. The spattering upward of the molten drips divided with the gas jet j1 for division, is restrained with the auxiliary gas jet j2 and further, the auxiliary gas jet j2 becomes the integrated flow with the gas jet j1 for division and the molten drips are poured into the cooling liquid layer 7 while carried with this jet flow. By this method, the development of the spattered and floated molten drips is eliminated, and the metallic powder having small unevenness to the quality caused by the difference of cooling speed, can be produced.
