PURPOSE: To efficiently obtain high-purity metallic soap by reacting an aliphatic monocarboxylic acid with a metallic compound by using a stirring device having specific structure as a reaction device.
CONSTITUTION: An aliphatic monocarboxylic acid (e.g., stearic acid) is reacted with a metallic compound (e.g., CaOH) by melting method or direct precipitation method. In the reaction, a device equipped with an agitating blade at an eccentric position based on a reactor and having constitution rotating the reactor itself in the opposite direction to a stirring rod is used as a reaction device. The agitating speed of the agitating blade is about 100-6,000rpm and the speed of revolution of the container is about 10-50rpm. In melting method, the reaction is carried out in the presence of a polyfunctional carboxylic acid at 80-250°C and in direct precipitation method, the reaction is done in the presence of water at ≤ the melting point of the raw material-≤ boiling point of water to give the aimed substance.
