Abstract:

To provide a production apparatus for obtaining a magnesium alloy ingot having excellent surface quality without employing unreasonable mechanism.

In the production of the magnesium alloy ingot in which molten magnesium alloy is pumped from a melting furnace and the pumped molten metal is poured into a mold from the pouring hole of a nozzle and solidified to be made into the ingot, concurrently with the rising of the molten metal surface in the mold due to pouring the molten metal, a cylindrical sub-nozzle is raised between the mold and the nozzle along the nozzle while the lower end part of the sub-nozzle is close to the molten metal surface.
