Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a production method of powdery hydroxyalkyl celluloses which are excellent in water solubility and caking resistance.SOLUTION: A production method of powdery hydroxyalkyl celluloses has: a step (1) to obtain a mixture 1 including a hydroxyalkyl cellulose by making a powdery cellulose raw material and an alkylene oxide react with each other in the presence of an alkali metal hydroxide and in a condition in which a ratio of the water content to the cellulose raw material is 20 to 200 mass%; a step (2) after the step (1) to obtain a mixture 2 by mixing a polyvalent carboxylic acid having a hydroxy group therewith and neutralizing the alkali metal hydroxide; and a step (3) to obtain the powdery hydroxyalkyl celluloses with a median size of 10 to 900 μm by drying the mixture 2 obtained in the step (2), adjusting the volatile component after drying of the mixture 2 to 13.0 mass% or less, and subsequently pulverizing the resulting mixture.SELECTED DRAWING: None
