Abstract:

To provide an economical and high recovery efficiency production method of a silicon block from a silicon oxide powder and an arc furnace capable of favorably conducting the method.

A production method of a silicon block comprises melting and reducing silicon oxide included in a recovered silicon waste in a reducing atmospheric region created by arc discharge. The production method of a silicon block is favorably carried out by a direct current type arc furnace having an arc generation means to generate arc discharge between a graphite crucible and graphite electrode and a graphite electrode moving means to adjust the distance between the crucible and the graphite electrode.
