Abstract:
To provide a production method of sodium carboxymethylcellulose having a high yield value.
The production of an alkali cellulose from a cellulose base raw material is performed in a water-containing organic solvent containing 5-8 wt.% sodium hydroxide (100 wt.% in total) at 45-55C for 120-180 min by using 1.0-2.5 mol sodium hydroxide per 1 mol glucose unit in the cellulose base raw material, and then, the etherification reaction of the obtained alkali cellulose is performed at 60-70C for 100-150 min.
