PURPOSE: To produce stable microcapsules not causing aggregation or the occurrence of trouble such as unevenness or crawling and enabling simultaneous coating in layers with modified gelatin as protective colloid and to provide a perfectly dry photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material using the microcapsules, not requiring the use of a developing soln., etc., and capable of forming a mono- or poly-chromatic image.

CONSTITUTION: When microcapsules are produced, modified gelatin obtd. by chemically modifying amino groups of gelatin is used as hydrophilic protective colloid for emulsification and dispersion for forming microcapsules. When the resulting microcapsules are used for a photosensitive and heat sensitive recording material in which a latent image is formed by exposure in a photosetting compsn. and a component taking part in color development or color vanishment by heating is transferred in accordance with the latent image to form an image, the component taking part in color development or color vanishment is incorporated into the microcapsules.
