PURPOSE: To produce a microcrystalline metal in which anisotropic magnetic field Hk is controlled by incorporating an element having gaseous form at ordinary temp. to form an amorphous metal and then liberating at least a part of the above gaseous element and also finely crystallizing the amorphous metal by means of heat treatment for the amorphous metal.
CONSTITUTION: An amorphous metal represented by Fe-X-N is formed by incorporating N having gaseous form into an alloy or mixture consisting of Fe and X (where X means at least one or more elements from among Zr, Hf, Ti, Nb, Ta, V, Mo, and W). This Fe-X-N amorphous metal is heat-treated preferably at about 350-650°C to liberate at least a part of N and also finely crystallize (preferably to ≤300) the above) amorphous metal, by which the microcrystalline metal having a composition represented by a composition formula represented by FeaXbNc [where (a), (b), and (c) stand for respective atomic percentages and X means at least one or more elements among Zr, Hf, Ti, Nb, Ta, V, Mo, and W] and has a compositional range satisfying 0<b≤20 and 0<c≤22 (excluding b≤7.5 and c≤5) and also has superior magnetic properties can be obtained.
