Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the titled product having uniform fiber length, giving a homogeneous dispersion when mixed with other material, having high adhesive strength and capable of giving a tough composite material, by pelletizing a thermoplastic liquid crystal polymer and crushing the pellet.

CONSTITUTION: A thermoplastic liquid crystal polymer (composed of rigid polymer molecules and exhibiting crystalline nature in spite of liquid, preferably arylate of a polyester) is pelletized and then crushed to a fibril diameter of preferably 0.05W0.5μ with a roll crusher, edge runner, colloid mill, etc., to obtain the objective microfibrid.
