To provide a method for producing a microparticle-baring carrier comprising firmly attaching the microparticles to the surface of a carrier from a microparticle dispersion obtained by inhibiting the agglomeration and grain growth of microparticles of a metal and/or an oxide thereof in a polymer or oligomer having specified functional groups and fixing the microparticles on the surface of the carrier and to provide a method for fixing microparticles.
A film of a polymer or oligomer having at least one type of functional group selected among a cyano group, an amino group and a thiol group at the ends and/or side chains of a molecule is prepared. A metal is vapor-deposited on the film to disperse microparticles 4 of the metal and/or an oxide thereof. The obtained composite material is dissolved in a solvent to form a microparticle dispersion 7. A carrier 9 is introduced into the dispersion 7 to allow it to absorb the microparticles 4 through the polymer or oligomer 3.
