Title:
PRODUCTION OF MOLTEN PIG IRON CONTAINING CHROMIUM AND/OR NICKEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3603969
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PURPOSE: To secure the stability of operation, such as furnace body protection of smelting furnace, improvement in yield, and prevention of spitting, in the smelting reduction of Cr oxides and/or Ni oxides.
CONSTITUTION: At least a raw material, containing chromium oxides and/or nickel oxides, and a carbon material are supplied into a smelting furnace, and this raw material is melted by supplying oxidizing gas into the smelting furnace to undergo smelting reduction, thereby, a molten pig iron containing chromium and/or nickel is produced. At this time, a flux is added in its early stages of blowing, and MgO content in this flux is lower by 1-15wt.% than the saturation solubility at the smelting reduction operating temp., and further, the melting point of this flux is not higher than the smelting reduction operation temp. Further, if necessary, a flux having a composition equal to that of blast furnace slag is used as the flux.
