Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject sale useful as a fluorinating agent excellent in reactivity and selectivity by effecting the reaction of a specific pyridinium salt with fluorine in the presence of a specified pyridine compound without using a Br&phiv nsted acid which is inconvenient to handle.
CONSTITUTION: A pyridinium salt of formula I (R1 to R5 are H, halogen, alkyl, aryl, acyl, alkoxycarbonyl; X- is a conjugate base of a Br&phiv nsted acid) and fluorine are allowed to react with each other in the presence of a catalytic amount of a pyridine compound of formula II such as pyridine to give the objective salt of formula III.
