Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for efficiently producing the subject compound simply, useful as a fluorinating agent by fluorinating a pyridine sulfonic acid compound using an easily reusable lower aliphatic polyfluoroalcohol as a solvent.
CONSTITUTION: This method for producing an N-fluoropyridiniumsulfonate comprises reacting (B) a pyridine sulfonic acid compound of formula I (R1 to R4 are each H, a halogen, an alkyl, an aryl, nitro, etc.; R is a single bond or an alkylene; M is H, a metal atom or ammonium) with (C) fluorine in (A) a lower aliphatic polyfluoroalcohol (preferably a 2-5C lower aliphatic polyfluoroalcohol, e.g. trifluoroethanol or tetrafluoropropanol) to obtain (D) the N-fluoropyridinium sulfonate of formula II. As the component (C), fluorine diluted to 1-75vol.% by using an inert gas (e.g. nitrogen or helium) is preferably used.
