PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound useful as medicaments, by reacting a primary amine, a diol and hydrogen in the presence of a specific catalyst and a catalytic amount of a basic alkali metal or alkaline earth metal compound at high temperature under high pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A primary amine of formula II (R is alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, etc.), a diol of formula III [A is -(CH2)n-[-O-(CH2)m]r ((n) and (m) are each 2-8; (r) is 1-3) and hydrogen are reacted in the presence of a copper-containing hydrogenation/dehydrogenation catalyst at high temperature under a high pressure to give an N-substd. cyclic amine of formula I. The reaction is effected by batch process in liquid phase, preferably by continuous method at 150-300°C and 40-300 bars.
