PURPOSE: To provide a method and apparatus capable of efficiently and cost effectively making mass production of wire nails having circular offset heads unified to a strip shape to be used in a power nailing machine with ease of uniformity.
CONSTITUTION: The nail production apparatus 10 includes a stationary jaw 30 and moving jaw 32 for clamping a malleable wire, cutting jaws 70 and 72 for bending the wire at a prescribed length and cutting the wire so as to form the point ends of nails on four surfaces to remain the stub and a punch for shaping the circular offset heads by pushing the stub left by bending into the cavity within the clamping jaws. Long grooves for embracing the wire disposed within the clamping jaws 30 and 32 turn to a cylindrical shape when both are butted against each other and since the central axis thereof is offset to the stationary jaw 30 side in the embodiment, the burrs produced by molding are offset from the center of the shank of the nail and are, therefore, not obstructive at the time of making the nails uniform.
