Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce the titled compound useful as a synthetic intermediate of a carcinostatic agent, 11-deoxydaunomycin, easily in high yield, by reacting a specific compound with a specific novel compound.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compound of formula III can be produced by reacting the compound of formula I (R1 is lower alkoxy or OH; X is halogen) with the compound of formula II (A is lower alkylene) at a molar ratio of preferably 1:(1W1.5) in an inert solvent such as benzene in the presence of a basic compound such as sodium carbonate e.g. at 100W200°C for 0.5W10hr. The compound of formula II is a novel substance which can be produced from the compound of formula IV.
