To provide a process for producing napped fiber products having a design of the pattern conspicuous in both color and uneven roughness by forming the fabric with a single yarn, adjusting its fabric hand at the finishing step then imparting an optional pattern and developing a color tone different from that at the ground part in the final step.
The raw fabric for napped fiber products is prepared by using a mixed yarn or sliver of a low-shrinkage yarn and a high-shrinkage yarn in which the color of these yarns differ from each other, heattreated to shrink the fibers in the zone to be napped thereby forming multi-colored double piles. Then, the napped part is partially cut with a pattern-shirring machine, a design- shirring machine or by hand-cutting to make a pattern whereby the patterned part is made different in color from the ground part.
