PURPOSE: To obtain a natural stone-type, panel-shaped construction which has resistance to acidic and alkaline media and includes the structures of large sizes by depositing sand, a mixture composed of the sand and glass and the glass on a forming mold and pressurizing, heating and cooling these materials in a specific form.
CONSTITUTION: The sand, the mixture composed of the sand and glass and the crushed glass are successively superposed and deposited in a flat layer of a uniform thickness on the forming mold and are compressed. The layer deposit is then heated in the mold from room temp. up to 600 to 800°C according to the chemical compsn. of the mixture for 20 to 100 minutes and is then treated at the temp. described above for 6 to 35 minutes. In succession, the deposit is held for 6 to 40 minutes after attaining the temp. range where the glass surface exhibits a viscosity η of 104 to 105.5 dPas and is then cooled for 6 to 35 minutes until 750 to 600°C is attained. Further, the layer deposit is held at the temp. for 15 to 65 minutes and is then subjected to straight cooling to 400 to 500°C at 2 to 5 K/min and thereafter, free or forcible cooling is executed down to room temp., by which the desired construction is obtd.
