Abstract:

PURPOSE:To obtain the subject straight chain low density copolymer useful as a raw material for forming films by employing an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising a specific solid Ti catalyst component and an organic metal compound catalyst component. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene and an >=3C alpha-olefin are copolymerized in the presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst comprising (A) a solid Ti catalyst component containing Ti, Mg, a halogen and a compound having two or more ether bonds through plural atoms and (B) one of the groups I-III metals (e.g. triethyl- aluminum). The compound A is prepared preferably by bringing MgCl2, etc., as a Mg compound, TiCl4 as a Ti compound and 2,2-diisobutyl-1,3- dimethoxypropane, etc., as the ether bond-containing compound into contact with each other.
