PURPOSE: To produce a 2W4C olefin, in high selectivity, by using a ferrierite and/or offretite-erionite zeolite catalyst in the catalytic cracking of light naphtha, etc.
CONSTITUTION: a ferrierite and/or offretite-erionite zeolite wherein ≥50%, preferably ≥70% of the exchangeable cation is hydrogen ion, is used as a catalyst, and is made to contact with a hydrocarbon such as paraffin, olein and/or naphthene, etc. having a boiling point range of from 5C hydrocarbon to the fraction wherein at least 50vol% of the component has a boiling point of ≤150°C, preferably a liquid hydrocarbon (light naphtha) having a boiling point of from 5C hydrocarbon to about 100°C. The secondary polymerization of the produced olefin can be suppressed, and the 2W4C olefin composed mainly of propylene can be produced economically, in high selectivity, on an industrial scale.
