Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce an oleophilic food dye having high discoloration resistance, in high efficiency, by treating a raw material of the dye with a liquid of supercritical state.

CONSTITUTION: A raw material containing an oleophilic and non-hydrophilic dye such as carotinoid dye, diketone dye, porphyrin dye, etc. is put into an extraction tank. A solvent capable of dissolving and holding said dye, e.g. refined coconut oil, hexane, acetone, etc. is poured into the tank to form a homogeneous mixture of the dye raw material and the solvent. Gas such as carbon dioxide gas, ethylene, nitrogen gas, propane, etc. is pressed into the tank to keep the extraction tank to the temperature and pressure above the critical point. The extracted phase is introduced into the separation tank to separate the extracted component.
