Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing the subject compound, characterized by high esterification conversion of 80% or more and production of essentially no alkyl chlorides as by-products and pollutants.
CONSTITUTION: This method produces an oligopeptide alkyl ester hydrochloride or amino acid alkyl ester hydrochloride by reacting an oligopeptide hydrochloride or amino acid hydrochloride with an alkyl (methyl, ethyl, isopropyl or normal propyl) alcohol in the presence of an acidic catalyst with 0.01 to 0.5 mols of hydrochloric acid per mol of the oligopeptide hydrochloride or amino acid hydrochloride, combined with an H+ type ion-exchanging resin.
