Title:
PRODUCTION OF OPTICAL ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3936434
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce an optical film having higher compensation performance than the conventional one at a low cost by using a film of inexpensive triacetylcellulose or saponified triacetylcellulose excellent in optical performance as a substrate, orienting and fixing a liq. crystalline polymer on the substrate without degenerating the substrate.
SOLUTION: A substrate with a layer of triacetylcellulose and/or saponified triacetylcellulose on at least one surface is prepd., the surface of the layer is directly rubbed and a liq. crystalline polymer layer is oriented and fixed on the surface of the substrate by applying a soln. of the liq. crystalline polymer in 2,6-dimethyl-4-heptanone and/or 4-heptanone to the rubbed surface and drying it.
