A compound of formula I (R1 and R2 are each an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group) is reduced in the presence of an optically activity amino alcohol of formula II (R is an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; R4 and R5 are each an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; R6 is hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aralkyl group) under the condition of the presence of an optically activity amino acid of formula III (R7 is an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group; R8 is hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aralkyl group), by using a reducing agent prepared from NaBH4 and N,N-dialkylaniline, and sulfuric acid to produce the objective optically active alcohol of formula IV.
