Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the compound suppressing HIV protease related to manifestation of proliferation and character of AIDS virus by hydrogenating a diamino- diphenyl-hexen-one derivative in the presence of a transition metal-containing catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A (2S)-2,5-diamino-1,6-diphenyl-4-hexen-3-one derivative of the formula I [R1 is a (halogen-substituted) lower alkylcarbonyl, an arylcarbonyl or a lower alkoxycarbonyl; R2 and R3 each is an (alkoxy-substituted) aryll is hydrogenated in the presence of a transition metal-containing catalyst (preferably an activated metal such as ruthenium, rhodium, palladium or indium supported on a carrier selected from active carbon, silica, alumina or silica- alumina) to give the objective compound of the formula II.
