Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain the title high-purity compound useful as various pheromone of insect or perfume simply by asymmetrically hydrogenating a γ-keto-acid or an ester thereof in the presence of a specific catalyst.

CONSTITUTION: A compound shown by formula I (R1 is 1-10C alkyl or phenyl which may contain substituent group; R2 is H or lower alkyl) is asymmetrically hydrogenated by using one selected from optically active ruthenium-phosphine complexes shown by formula II [R3-BINAP is tertiary phosphine shown by formula III (R3 is H, methyl, etc.,); Q is tertiary amine; (y) is 0 or 1, when y=0, x is 2, (z) is 4 and (p) is 1 and when y=1, x is 1, (z) is 1 and (p) is 0], formula IV (R4 is lower alkyl, etc.,) and formula V [X is halogen; R5 and R6 are phenyl which may contain substituent group; R7-BINAP is tertiary phosphine shown by formula VI (R7 is H, methoxy, etc.,)] as a catalyst to give the objective derivative shown by formula VII (* is asymmetric carbon).
