Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an optically active alcohol compound or optically active carboxylic acid compound, by treating a carboxylic acid compound with an immobilized microorganism prepared by a lattice inclusion process.

CONSTITUTION: A racemic carboxylic acid of formula I [R is group of formula II, formula III (A is 2W4C alkylene having asymmetric C) or 4W6C cycloalkenyl] is treated with an immobilized microorganism (preferably pathogen of anthracnose) prepared by lattice inclusion process. An optically active alcohol of formula IV or an optically active carboxylic acid of formula V can be produced by this process.
