To obtain an organic acid in a high yield by effecting aerobic Coryne type bacteria recombined with a phosphoenolpyruvic acid carboxylase gene anaerobically to an organic material in a solution containing (bi)carbonate ion, CO2, or the like.
The method for producing an organic acid comprises effecting an aerobic Coryne type bacterium (e.g. Brevibacterium flavum) recombined with a phosphoenolypyruvic acid carboxylase gene originated from a microorganism such as Rhodopseudomonas paulustris and Brevibacterium flavum or a plant such as a soybean and a corn, or their preparations anaerobically to an organic material in a solution containing (bi)carbonate ion, CO2, or the like, to produce an organic acid such as succinic acid in a high efficiency and a high yield.
