Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high-molecular-weight organopolysiloxane gum capable of easily controlling degree of polymerization by mixing two specified silanol- group-containing organosilanes or organosiloxanes with a monoacyloxysilane and heating the mixture in the presence of an acid compound.
SOLUTION: This organopolysiloxane gum is produced by previously mixing at least one member selected from among silanol-group-containing organosilanes and organosiloxanes of formula I [wherein R1 and R2 are each a (substituted) monovalent hydrocarbon group; and (n) is 1-3,000] with at least one member selected from among silanol-group-containing organosiloxanes and organosiloxanes of formula II [wherein R3 is a (substituted) monovalent hydrocarbon group; R4 is a radiation-curable functional group; and (m) is 1-300] and a monoacyloxysilane of formula III [wherein R5 to R8 are each a (substituted) monovalent hydrocarbon group], and heating the resulting mixture in the presence of an acid compound of a pKa of 3 or below (desirably 0-3).
