To readily and environmentally-friendly produce an oxaziridine compound useful as a raw material for various organic synthesis at a low cost by reacting a cycloalkanone with ammonia, and oxidizing the product.
A cycloalkanone (e.g. cyclohexanone and cyclododecanone) is reacted with ammonia, and the product is oxidized by an organic peroxide (e.g. performic acid and t-butyl hydroperoxide) and/or an inorganic peroxide (e.g. hydrogen potassium persulfate) to provide the objective 3,3- alkyleneoxaziridine. The amount of the used ammonia is preferably 0.5-200 molar times as much as that of the cycloalkane, and the amount of the used peroxide is preferably 0.5-5.0 eq. The reaction is preferably carried out in a solvent (e.g. methanol), and the amount of the solvent is 1-100 times as much as the weight of the cycloalkanone.
