PURPOSE: To provide a producing method of a vapor growth carbon having excellent oxidation resistance, suitable for producing a composite material with a plastics, ceramic, metal, etc., and suitable for using as an electrode material of a Li secondary cell.
CONSTITUTION: A method for producing the subject oxidation resistant vapor growth carbon is characterized by treating a vapor growth carbon fiber with a boron compound and/or a phosphorus compound and then heating the treated fiber. A preferable composite material with a plastics, a ceramic, a metal, etc., can be produced by using the oxidation resistant vapor growth carbon. When the carbon is used as an electrode material of a Li secondary electric cell, the method is extremely economical, because deterioration of an electrolytic solution is prevented and the solution can repeatedly be used.
