Abstract:
PURPOSE: To simplify the forming of an oxide superconductor and to increase the density and transition temp. by adding silver or a silver compd. to starting material for the oxide superconductor, mixing them and heating this mixture in an atmosphere contg. oxygen.
CONSTITUTION: Silver or a silver compd. such as Ag2O2 is added to starting material for an oxide superconductor, e.g., prepd. by blending Y2O3 with BaCO3 and CuO in 1:2:3 weight ratio of Y:Ba:Cu and 0.1W30wt.% of the amt. of the starting material and they are mixed. This mixture is melted by heating to ≥850°C in an electric furnace in the air and the resulting melt is cooled.
